Overview
"There is much that is similar in the Australian Curriculum for History(AC History) and VELS. The two strands for AC History-Historical Knowledge and Understanding and Historical Skills are similar to the two dimensions for History in the VELS - Historical knowledge and understanding and Historical reasoning and interpretation." Click here to open the file comparing VELS History to AC
Both curricula have a similar sequence for knowledge and understanding, with personal, local, state and Australian history being the focus for the primary years; Ancient and Medieval history for Years 7 and 8 and; Australian and global history in Years 9 and 10. AC History has been adopted in its entirety into AusVels: with specific content for each year and a skills set over a two year period with the exception of Years F to 2 (Prep to 2). |
